Genesis Parent Portal Contact Tab Update

Parents are asked to check that the “Contact” information in Genesis is complete and comprehensive to ensure that you receive desired notifications.  Please check the following:

  • Parents are responsible for keeping their information up-to-date through the Genesis Parent Portal.
  • Any changes you make should be made for each child you have in the school system. There are separate contacts for EACH child. Do not solely change information for the first child listed, or your other children will have incorrect contact information in their records.
  • Be sure each cell phone for a parent or guardian has a carrier (such as Verizon, T-Mobile) listed.
  • If you have a family email address, only list it once under the first (primary) contact.  You need not repeat it under both parents.
  • If your address changes, you must call the school to make the change. You will need to produce all of the required proofs of residency.
  • For additional questions, please email Rachel Hamm – Markham Place (rhamm@littlesilverschools.org) or Lynn Thompson – Point Road (lthompson@littlesilverschools.org).  Contacts tab

  • To change an existing email address or phone number, you can retype it on the screen and click the Save All Changes button.
  • To supply your cell phone carrier, choose your carrier from the dropdown and click the Save All Changes button.
  • To add an additional phone number or email address, choose from the dropdown what you want to add. Then enter the number, carrier for cell phones, or email address. Click the Save All Changes button when done.
  • If a parent or guardian’s name is spelled incorrectly, missing or the relationship is wrong, please call your child’s school to make the correction.

PARCC Score Presentation

The Little Silver PARCC Score Report to the Community 2018, that was presented during the September 20th Board of Education Meeting, can be found on the district’s website under Dr. Kossack’s letters at: https://www.littlesilverschools.org or click here.

Technology Insurance Letter

This is a reminder that on August 30th, a Technology Insurance Letter was sent to parents.  Parents and guardians were strongly encouraged to purchase an annual insurance policy for your child’s assigned device at a cost of $20 for the 2018-19 school year.  Parents were asked to PLEASE RESPOND to the Insurance Request either way, indicating that you were purchasing the insurance and enclosing Cash or a Check made payable to the Little Silver Board of Education OR that you were not purchasing the Chromebook Insurance and acknowledging that you would incur the cost of repair should an incident occur involving your child and his/her device occur.  If you have not returned your response, please do so by submitting the bottom portion of the form to your child's homeroom/classroom teacher.

Restart book

Thank You PTO!

On Friday, September 21st, the PTO Cultural Arts Committee arranged for author visits at both schools.  As part of their “One School – One Book” initiative, the Markham Place students all read “Restart” by Gordon Korman.  Gordon Korman is a Canadian American author. Korman has written over 80 children's and young adult fiction books. Korman has sold more than 28 million books over a career spanning three decades, beginning when he was a middle school student.  The visit was exciting for Markham Place students!

“Testing time” refers to the maximum amount of time allotted to students to complete the assessment.  Most students finish well in advance of the allotted time.  Students with IEPs may go beyond the allotted time.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) administered a new Science assessment last year.  The assessment will continue during this 2018-19 school year.  The Science assessments are aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Science.
